If you know me, you know that summer is my favorite season but since fall is here I must embrace the change right? Though it is sad to say goodbye to the long days and warm nights of summer, I always get a little bit excited when October comes around.  In my eyes, it is the unofficial start of the holiday season.  I love festive decor and traditions and this is the time of year when all of that fun begins!  I’ve always enjoyed Halloween – I remember begging my mom to pull out the Halloween decorations so I could decorate our front porch for the three or four trick-or-treaters that we got every year.  I have fond memories of trick-or-treating in pretty costumes, ending the night with a bag full of candy (my favorites were always Sour Patch Kids and good old fashioned candy corn!). Halloween is even more fun now that I’m a mother.  I’ve so enjoyed the early years of my kid’s lives when I could choose cute coordinating costumes but we are now at the point where they want to choose their own.  This year my son has decided to be a king (complete with a scepter) and my daughter wants to be little orphan Annie.  I can’t wait to take them trick-or-treating!

As much as I love coming up with unexpected color palettes for my Monthly Mood Boards, I felt like keeping things a bit more traditional and aligned with the season this month.  When I think of October, I think of Halloween which makes me picture black, white and orange.  So, this month’s mood board is inspired by Halloween and those typical colors that come with it.  With black and orange being at the forefront, I thought it would be nice to bring in shades of white and gray to offset the predictable and sometimes cheesy vibe that orange and black can give.  These neutrals make the overall look a bit more grown up and the gold adds a bit of glam!
